A special blessing for a long and happy marriage was given in return as a token of appreciation. The recipe supposedly stayed secret for centuries. Alessi Amaretti are made in the same tradition with egg whites, sugar, and crushed apricot kernels. The result is a crisp and almost air-light textured cookie with hints of apricot flavor.
